# How to find a lawyer for a dispute with a bank in Georgia

## Five questions before you write

**What should I gather first?**  
The loan or account agreement with every annex, the payment schedule, statements for the disputed period, and every letter or message between you and the bank. If you complained to the bank in writing, keep the copy and the date.

**Should I keep paying while it is disputed?**  
Ask the lawyer before you stop or change any payment: the answer depends on your contract and on what the bank has already done.

**The bank offers to restructure. Should I sign?**  
Have a lawyer read the new terms first and compare them with the old ones: the total you will pay, the collateral and the fees.

**Money left my card without my consent.**  
Tell your bank straight away and keep a record of that call or message; then send the lawyer the list of transactions.

**What does it cost?**  
Banking lawyers on legal.ge publish a consultation fee of about GEL 300. Ask for a written quote for the whole dispute, including any stage in court.

## How to write the question

Two or three sentences are enough: which product it is (a loan, a mortgage, a card, a deposit), what the bank did or refused to do, and the outcome you want. Leave out account numbers and passwords: the lawyer does not need them to answer.
