## About this service

The risk-based approach is the central idea of the law on the prevention of money laundering and terrorism financing: not every client and every transaction is equally dangerous, and measures must correspond to the risk. Legal risk assessment is precisely the application of that logic: identifying, classifying and planning measures around the risks of an accountable person's processes, clients and products — according to the methodology established by law. This service helps conduct and document that assessment so the result is substantiated for the supervisory organ and usable for the business.

### What is the risk-based approach?

The law's central principle: preventive measures must be proportionate to the level of risk. At low risk the law permits simplification; at heightened risk enhanced measures are mandatory.

### How is low risk established?

In strictly limited cases, by release under a normative act of the head of the Service. An example is an electronic-money instrument on which the amount does not exceed 500 lari and the monthly transfer limit is 500 lari — under certain conditions the threshold rises to 1 500 lari. Simplification is earned by the product's architecture.

### What is owed to a heightened-risk client?

Beyond basic measures: additional information on assets and activity, frequent updating of data, management's permission, establishing the origin of sources — including convertible virtual assets — and enhanced monitoring.

### What is an unusual transaction?

A complex, unusually large transaction or unusual combination without apparent economic or lawful purpose. It is studied and its grounds established; on the supervisory organ's demand you must substantiate the study.
