The Prosecutor's Office has charged 50 individuals with the illegal purchase, storage, facilitation of sale, and sale of large and especially large amounts of narcotics.

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has charged 50 individuals, including foreign citizens, with the illegal purchase, possession, facilitation of sale, and sale of large and particularly large quantities of narcotic drugs.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, an investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the accused illegally purchased and stored various types and quantities of narcotic drugs, including large and particularly large amounts, which they packaged and placed in different locations. Additionally, some of the accused were involved in the sale of narcotics.

"As a result of the measures taken, law enforcement officers seized narcotic substances such as 'Heroin,' 'Methadone,' 'Alpha-PVP,' 'Subutex,' 'Tramadol,' 'Buprenorphine,' 'dried Marijuana,' the narcotic-containing plant 'Cannabis,' and items necessary for packaging narcotics.

The detainees were charged under Article 260, Part 1 (illegal purchase, possession of a narcotic substance); Article 260, Part 2, subparagraph 'a', and Part 3, subparagraph 'a' (illegal purchase, possession of a large and particularly large amount of a narcotic substance); Article 260, Part 2, subparagraphs 'a', 'd', and 'e' (repeated illegal purchase and possession of a large amount of a narcotic substance by a convicted person); Article 260, Part 2, subparagraph 'b' and Part 3, subparagraph 'a' (illegal purchase and possession of a particularly large amount of a narcotic substance by a group with a prior agreement); Article 260-tertia, Part 4, and Part 5, subparagraphs 'a' and 'e' (illegal sale of a narcotic substance, in large and particularly large amounts, by a person convicted of a drug offense); Article 260-quarta, Part 5, subparagraphs 'a' and 'b', and Part 6, subparagraph 'a' (facilitation of the illegal sale of a large and particularly large amount of a narcotic substance by a group with a prior agreement); Article 265-prima, Part 3, subparagraph 'a' (illegal sowing, growing, cultivation of a plant containing a particularly large amount of a narcotic substance); Article 260-quarta, Part 1 (facilitation of the illegal sale of the narcotic substance marijuana); and Article 260-tertia, Part 1 (illegal sale of marijuana), which provides for a sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

Based on the motion of the Prosecutor's Office, some of the accused have already been placed in pre-trial detention as a preventive measure, while the court will decide on the matter for the remaining individuals within the period prescribed by law," the statement said.
