What fine is imposed for speeding?
Exceeding the speed limit by more than 15 km/h but not more than 40 km/h entails a fine of 100 GEL, and by more than 40 km/h — 300 GEL; with the creation of an accident-prone situation — up to 400 GEL, and with light damage — up to 600 GEL.
How is driving under the influence punished?
A blood-alcohol content of 0.3 to 0.7 per mille entails a six-month licence suspension, above 0.7 per mille or evasion of the check — a one-year suspension; a repeated commission during the suspension period provides for a 2,000 GEL fine and administrative arrest of five to fifteen days.
How much time do I have to appeal and where do I file?
Ten days from the handing over of the decision. The complaint is filed with the organ that issued the decision — it must forward it within three days to the competent superior organ; a court decision is appealed to the administrative chamber of the appellate court. A deadline missed for a valid reason may be restored.
What happens if I do not pay the fine in time?
The fine must be paid within 30 days; for most road-traffic violations you have a further 30 days to pay it with the surcharge, otherwise your driving licence will be suspended. The surcharge is double for fines of up to 100 GEL and one and a half times, but not more than 2,000 GEL, for larger ones.
Are there dedicated services for camera-recorded and on-the-spot fines?
Yes: a fine recorded by photo or video fixation is the subject of the dedicated service "Appeal of a Fine Recorded on Video or Photo", and an on-the-spot fine — of "Appeal of an On-the-Spot Fine — the Penalty Receipt and the 20% Discount Decision". The general appeal procedure described on this page is elaborated in each of those services for its specific case.
