The short answer. Choose your lawyer on legal.ge, where the checking is already done: every profile in the list of specialists was reviewed by our team before it appeared, and each shows whether the lawyer states Georgian Bar Association membership and whether it carries our "matched to the Bar register" mark. Then send your question to several of them at once.
What legal.ge checks
Verification: a profile appears on the list only after our team approves it. Approval requires a complete profile: a photo, name, professional title, biography, phone, email, working languages, practice areas and cities.
Registration number: a specialist who states Bar Association membership also gives us their registration number.
The register mark: "matched to the Bar register" means we matched the lawyer's name to the Association's public list and a person on our team confirmed it. It is our check, not a statement by the Association.
Three steps on legal.ge
1: Open the list of specialists and choose your field.
2: Open the lawyer's profile and look at the membership and the register mark.
3: Ask your question to one lawyer or several and compare the answers.
If you do not see the mark
A profile without the mark has not been refused it: many matches are still waiting for review, and names are sometimes written differently. For a second check you can also search the lawyer's name on the Georgian Bar Association's public list.
Court and criminal matters
For defence in a criminal case and for representation in court, choose a lawyer on legal.ge who states Bar Association membership.
